Roundup Ready 2 Yield™ Soybeans Hitting the Road

Roundup Ready 2 Yield™ soybeans will hit the road this summer in a unique traveling Mobile Greenhouse filled with the plants at various growth stages.

The unit will appear at over a dozen large field days from July through September, giving farmers an up-close look at the next generation soybean technology that offers higher yield potential than the first generation Roundup Ready® soybeans. States included in the tour are Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska and Ohio.

Farmers can view the soybeans at various growth stages in the 28-foot Mobile Greenhouse. While there, farmers will also be able to view a short video illustrating the science behind the seed and enter to win a Family Dream Vacation worth $8,000.

“Farmers have shared their excitement about Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans with us, and the Mobile Greenhouse is a great way to help communicate the benefits of this new technology,” says Dion McBay, Monsanto Soybean Traits Marketing Manager. “It presents farmers with an excellent opportunity to learn how second-generation Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans can provide them with the same simple, dependable and flexible weed control and crop safety they’ve come to rely on with the Roundup Ready soybean system, but now with even higher yield potential.”

In addition to the Mobile Greenhouse, Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans will be growing in Technology Showcase plots across the Midwest this season. These are all part of Monsanto’s “Summer of Soy” events to highlight Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans.

New Roundup Ready 2 Yield Web Site

For more information on the Mobile Greenhouse, the Summer of Soy and Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans, farmers can visit the new Roundup Ready 2 Yield Web site located on the web at www.RoundupReady2Yield.com.

The new Web site will be the main source of the latest Roundup Ready 2 Yield™ soybean information, including news, videos, farmer testimonials, Summer of Soy events and more.

In addition, this highly interactive site provides comprehensive information about the science behind Roundup Ready 2 Yield. Site visitors can click on brief video segments to learn more about this science, view research trial results and hear what production farmers have to say about their experience growing the new soybean technology.

A whole section of the site is dedicated to the Summer of Soy events, which include the Mobile Greenhouse tour and Technology Showcases. Here, site visitors are able to follow the Mobile Greenhouse, share their photos from Summer of Soy events and also enter to win a Family Dream Vacation valued at $8,000.

“We encourage farmers to log on to www.RoundupReady2Yield.com to learn all the exciting information about Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans,” says McBay.

Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybean system provide the same flexible, dependable weed control and crop safety as Roundup Ready soybeans, but with higher yield potential. Four years of Monsanto field trials demonstrated a yield advantage of 7 percent to 11 percent for Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans compared with the first-generation technology.

In 2009, there will be a controlled commercial release of Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans on up to 2 million acres followed by a full-scale product launch in 2010. Farmers are encouraged to visit with their local dealers and seed companies regarding the Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybean products best suited for their farms.
